The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big right from Rivera misses.
Rivera throws a right hand that misses
letting Mumu counter with a right hand.
Mumu circles away from the clinch attempt.
Mumu jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
Mumu misses with a lunging right hand
and Rivera counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Rivera with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Mumu has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mumu throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Mumu takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Rivera misses with a low kick.
Mumu quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.
Mumu misses the shot to the body.
Rivera let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.

Alborz Mumu seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rivera feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Mumus jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Rivera misses with a straight right.

Rivera moves into range and clinches up with Mumu.

Mumu breaks from the clinch.
Rivera digs a good hook to Mumu's body.

Mumu misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Mumu throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Rivera counters with a thumping low kick.
Mumu is breathing heavily.
Rivera Throws a clean left jab. Rivera Twirls his body and connects with a Spinning Back Fist that connects flush with Mumu's chin! Mumu crumbles to the ground and Rivera follows up with some unanswered strikes. It's all over!! Nice standup skills displayed by Rivera!

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Shinnosuke Nakagawa (ranked 29 p4p, 99 weight class) and Sonny Giovanni (ranked 5 p4p, 13 weight class). Nakagawa comes into the arena with Koto - CloZee blaring out of the sound system. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Nakagawa works Giovanni's body with a nice hook.

Nakagawa tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Giovanni paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Nakagawa tries to clinch but Giovanni moves out of range.
Giovanni is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Nakagawa with a body shot.
Sonny Giovanni is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Giovanni misses with a body kick.
Nakagawa tries to counter with a takedown but Giovanni is quick to defend against it.
Nakagawa tries to close the distance and clinch but Giovanni swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Giovanni looks like he wants to counter punch here.
We've been hearing reports that Nakagawa has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Nice uppercut lands for Giovanni. That snapped Nakagawa's head back.
Giovanni throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Nakagawa drops down looking for a counter takedown but Giovanni sprawls and moves away.
Nakagawa ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Giovanni moves away.

Nakagawa looking to score a takedown here. Giovanni is defending well but Nakagawa drives through and ends up in Giovanni's guard.

Giovanni has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Nakagawa is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Nakagawa scores with an uppercut up the middle.

Nakagawa is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Giovanni can't fight it off and eventually Nakagawa manages to take the fight to the floor. Giovanni looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Giovanni wants to stand but Nakagawa is controlling the position.
Giovanni wants to get back to his feet but Nakagawa passes into half guard.
Nakagawa lands with a punch from half guard.
Nakagawa wants to free his trapped foot but Giovanni is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Giovanni is in trouble now - Nakagawa has advanced to mount!
Giovanni is not a happy chappy he wants out of there.
Nakagawa connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Giovanni is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

Nakagawa trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Giovanni's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Nakagawa is working for a guillotine from mount but Giovanni frees his head quite easily.
Giovanni is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.

Giovanni tries to buck Nakagawa off so he can stand up but Nakagawa has got his back now - this could be big trouble! He's slapped on a rear naked choke that looks really tight! Giovanni falls backwards, slamming Nakagawa to the mat but Nakagawa holds on tight! Giovanni is forced to tap and this one is all over!
