Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ante Novak (ranked 871 p4p, 986 weight class) and Axl Cailean (ranked 116 p4p, 135 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ante Novak!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Axl Cailean!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Robert Twigg and Frank Dennis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Novak connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Cailean tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Novak manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Novak appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Novak ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Cailean stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

It looks like Ante Novak has been cut.
Cailean throws a good cross that connects.
Sloppy strikes from Cailean. Those never looked like landing.
Axl Cailean seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cailean cracks Novak with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
A looping hook to the body misses from Cailean. Novak does a little dance to reset his feet.
Cailean buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Cailean throws a sloppy head kick and Novak moves out of range easily.
A telegraphed right hand from Cailean misses the target.
Cailean on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Novak takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Cailean doesn't manage to clinch there - Novak circles away.
We've been told by Novak's head coaches at DC Dragon Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Cailean throws a looping overhand right but Novak ducks down to avoid it.

and Cailean takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Cailean with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Novak to score with a decent uppercut.
Cailean moves out of range of the body kick from Novak.
Some bone on bone action there as Novak checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Novak drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Cailean connects with a leg kick.
Cailean tries to clinch but Novak is having none of it.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Novak cracks Cailean with an open hand slap.
Cailean scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Novak doesn't seem bothered though.
Cailean connects with a solid leg kick.
Cailean darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Nice uppercut lands for Cailean. That snapped Novak's head back.
Novak slips a straight right by Cailean.
Novak went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Novak throws a push kick but Cailean slaps the foot to one side.
Cailean lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

Novak keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Cailean throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Novak looks for the body kick but Cailean saw that one coming.
Novak needs to keep his hands up - Cailean had a free shot at his head there.
Cailean throws a leg kick
and Novak counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Cailean misses with a hook.
Crunch! Novak slams his shin into Cailean's torso.
Novak avoids the head kick by Cailean.
Cailean lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Novak uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Cailean.

Novak pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Cailean lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Novak wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
A head punch on the inside from Cailean fails to land.
Novak is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Novak pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Cailean wants to clinch.
Novak on the wrong end of a nice hook.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Axl Cailean dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Ante Novak's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Novak throws a sloppy head kick and Cailean moves out of range easily.
Cailean looks like he wants to counter punch here.

A big right from Novak misses.
Cailean throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Novak has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Cailean finds it's way round the side to connect with Novak's head.
Cailean bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cailean pivots, looking for a leg kick but Novak is out of range and Cailean settles back down.

Cailean jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Cailean throws a head kick that misses.
Cailean ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Novak lands a monster head kick that reverborates around the arena! The crowd goes wild as Cailean crumples to the floor! Novak milks the crowd's applause and if that isn't knockout of the night, I will be very surprised!
