Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Banchamek Buakaw! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Yuri Sola! The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Patrick Alders and Daniel Blasius.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sola tries to bum rush Buakaw with a series of wild strikes but Buakaw uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Buakaw swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Sola has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Sola throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Buakaw counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
It looks like Yuri Sola has been cut. A big left from Sola misses. We've been told by Buakaw's head coaches at Sydney Top Team that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Sola throws a body shot but no joy. Sola showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Buakaw.

Sola tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Sola has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Buakaw is looking to reverse the position. Sola prevents Buakaw from escaping the position. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dao has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Scherma. Scherma throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Scherma does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Scherma uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Dao.
Dao takes one on the chin but seems OK.

That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Good shot there by Dao. Dao takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

Scherma swats away the attempt to clinch by Dao. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Donk. Dao catches Scherma right on the button with a cross. Scherma cracks Dao with an open hand slap. Dao fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Scherma manages to avoid it. Scherma is looking to slow Dao down with leg kicks. Dao takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Almeda is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Smif can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Smif uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Almeda has time to react. Almeda takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Almeda closes this distance looking for a takedown but Smif circles away. Almeda swings and misses with a shot to the body and Smif counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Smif with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

Almeda throws a combination that misses and Smif counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Almeda is rocked! Smif lands hard precision jab right on the jaw that stiffens Almeda up and sends him tumbling to the mat! The ref grabs Smif from behind before he can pounce. Some folks in the crowd didn't like that stoppage, but I saw Almeda's eyes roll way back in his head, he was done.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Bjorkman cracks Night with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Night tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Bjorkman pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Night is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
