Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Giro Inhanamoto (ranked 292 p4p, 469 weight class) and Buddah Joe (ranked 5 p4p, 28 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Giro Inhanamoto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Buddah Joe!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Patrick Alders and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Joe fails with an attempt to clinch.
A little feinted left hand from Inhanamoto on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Joe wants to clinch.
Inhanamoto throws a body kick, spinning off balance

and Joe counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Joe missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Joe lands a couple of elbows.
Inhanamoto keeping full guard, as Joe tries to pass.
Joe controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Inhanamoto wants to sweep but no luck.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup.
Joe trying to control but Inhanamoto is working from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Joe has taken the fight to the clinch.
Inhanamoto misses with a hook to the ribs.

Inhanamoto's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Joe fails with the takedown
and Inhanamoto counters with a right hand to the body.

Inhanamoto rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Joe counters with a nice double leg into side control. Inhanamoto won't be happy with that.
Inhanamoto is looking to regain half guard here but Joe keeps moving and retains side control.
Joe looking to control but instead Inhanamoto has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.
Inhanamoto is looking to control Joe's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Inhanamoto avoid being mounted?
Inhanamoto won't allow Joe to pass to mount.

Joe stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Inhanamoto swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Joe throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Inhanamoto works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Joe working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Joe drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Inhanamoto manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Joe has Inhanamoto in his guard.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Joe looking to hit a scissor sweep but Inhanamoto is one step ahead there.

A close round but Buddah Joe will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Joe shoots in looking for a takedown. Inhanamoto tries to sprawl out of it but Joe keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Inhanamoto manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Inhanamoto quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.
Joe fails with an attempt to clinch.
A solid leg kick lands there for Inhanamoto.
Inhanamoto misses with a wild body shot.
Joe with the counter takedown but Inhanamoto avoids it easily.

and Inhanamoto counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Inhanamoto was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Joe takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Joe is looking to clinch.
Inhanamoto slaps away a takedown attempt from Joe, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Inhanamoto fires out a quick counter leg kick but Joe just manages to avoid it.
Joe is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Inhanamoto was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

Joe blocks a jab.
Inhanamoto is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Joe can do to turn this around?
Joe shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Inhanamoto connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Giro Inhanamoto has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Buddah Joe.
Both fighters circling a little - Inhanamoto finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Joe tries to clinch but Inhanamoto is having none of it.

Joe is breathing heavily.

It looks like Buddah Joe has been cut.
Inhanamoto misses with a head kick.
Joe is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Inhanamoto fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
We've been told by Inhanamoto's head coaches at League of Shadows MMA that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Joe looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Joe looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Inhanamoto with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Joe is trying to control. Inhanamoto wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Joe is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed Inhanamoto to slip a leg under and get back to full guard.
Inhanamoto can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Joe controls the pace.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Joe shoots in for a double leg but Inhanamoto sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Inhanamoto is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Joe wants to clinch up but Inhanamoto keeps it at a distance.

Inhanamoto fires out a quick counter leg kick but Joe just manages to avoid it.

Joe moves into range and clinches up with Inhanamoto.
Joe trying to control the position but instead, Inhanamoto has worked for underhooks and has pushed Joe into the cage.
Inhanamoto lands a left hand that snaps the head of Joe backwards.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Inhanamoto works on Joe's body with a couple of short punches.
Joe putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Inhanamoto in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.

I think Inhanamoto has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
