Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paul Hunter (ranked 190 p4p, 139 weight class) and Edgars Al Dariush (ranked 31 p4p, 20 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 20 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Paul Hunter! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 24 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Edgars Al Dariush! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, George Francis and Robert Twigg.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight. Hunter swings away with a body shot that misses
and Al Dariush counters with a good low kick that Hunter was not able to check. Hunter has been working on his boxing with his coaches at FIGHT FOUNDERS (CA) in the buildup to the fight. Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Al Dariush lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Hunter has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Hunter and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. An attempted straight right counter from Hunter misses the target. Al Dariush wants to slow Hunter down by chopping away at his legs. Al Dariush throws a jab but it's blocked by Hunter. Hunter seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. Al Dariush sizes up Hunter with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Al Dariush moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Hunter throws an overhand right that lands on Al Dariush's shoulder, as Al Dariush tries to avoid the shot. Al Dariush looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Hunter takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Al Dariush missing with a left hand there. Hunter was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Hunter blocks the body kick.

and Hunter counters with a right hand to the body. Al Dariush loads up on a big right hand but Hunter slips the punch. Hunter swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect. Al Dariush fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Al Dariush throws a half hearted mid kick. Al Dariush feints and then cracks Hunter's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Hunter down. Danga de danga de dang - Al Dariush scores with a four punch combination! Al Dariush misses with an uppercut. A counter left hand to the body from Hunter misses its target. Hunter takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Al Dariush lands a leg kick that knocks Hunter off balance momentarily. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. A low kick from Al Dariush misses and Hunter counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
 It looks like Edgars Al Dariush has been cut.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Hunter throws a hook to the side of Al Dariush's head but Al Dariush sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Edgars Al Dariush seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hunter misses with an uppercut. Al Dariush appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick. Al Dariush misses with a low kick. It looked like Hunter was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Al Dariush cracks Hunter with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Hunter on the wrong end of a nice jab. Hunter stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Al Dariush.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Al Dariush is looking to chop away at Hunter's legs. Hunter appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body. Al Dariush misses with a looping left. A clash of legs there as Hunter blocks the low kick. Hunter appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body. Al Dariush delivers a nice body kick. Al Dariush throws a leg kick but Hunter sees it coming and checks it nicely. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Al Dariush, as that shot connected.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Al Dariush throws a body punch but Hunter moves out of range. Nice defenses there by Hunter. Hunter swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.

and Hunter counters with a lovely straight right hand! Donk. Al Dariush catches Hunter right on the button with a cross. Al Dariush misses with a right hand and Hunter counters with a stiff right hand. This entire fight has taken place on the feet so far and you wonder whether Hunter might be better served trying to take this one to the ground because he's losing the standup battle so far. Hunter throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Al Dariush throws a sloppy head kick and Hunter moves out of range easily. Al Dariush takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Hunter was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit. Al Dariush throws out a token jab with nothing on it. A counter left hand to the body from Hunter misses its target. Hunter moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Al Dariush rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Hunter cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Al Dariush connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. A jab lands there for Al Dariush. Al Dariush connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Hunter momentarily.

Al Dariush dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Hunter. That did some damage! And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

 It looks like Paul Hunter has been cut. Hunter is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight. Al Dariush throws a right hand that misses
and Hunter counters with a solid body kick. Al Dariush misses with an uppercut. Hunter saw that one coming. Edgars Al Dariush seems to be getting the better of the standup. A low kick lands for Al Dariush.

Al Dariush throws a jab when Hunter was well out of range. A quick step to the side and Hunter tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect. Al Dariush fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Hunter looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Al Dariush will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Al Dariush throws the left hand but Hunter avoids the punch easily. Al Dariush clobbers Hunter with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Hunter slips a straight right by Al Dariush. A nice leg kick from Al Dariush, right into the meat of the thigh.

Hunter ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Hunter appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body. Al Dariush digs a good body shot into Hunter's ribs. Al Dariush has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Al Dariush lands with a hook. Hunter tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Al Dariush misses with a low kick.

And that's the end of the fight! Edgars Al Dariush comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Al Dariush has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today.
