PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Seamus O Brien (ranked 641 p4p, 353 weight class) and Andor Seres (ranked 89 p4p, 47 weight class). O Brien comes to the cage accompanied by Pantera - The Great Southern Trendkill. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Andor Seres was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 30 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Andor Seres!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Alan Glass and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Seres walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Seres bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps O Brien's head backwards.
Seres looks to land a right hand but O Brien moved out of range.
A nice leg kick lands there from Seres.
Seres misses with a right hand
and O Brien cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
A slapping leg kick lands for O Brien.
A big right from O Brien misses.
O Brien slips a straight right by Seres.
Nice straight punches there by Seres. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Seres.
Seres throws an overhand right that lands on O Brien's shoulder, as O Brien tries to avoid the shot.
O Brien missing with a left hand there. Seres was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Seres gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Andor Seres seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

O Brien clobbers Seres with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

O Brien sizes up Seres with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

O Brien takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Seres has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

We've been told by O Brien's head coaches at The House Of Pain that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Seres closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming O Brien to the mat! O Brien manages to get full guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

O Brien will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

O Brien shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

O Brien is looking to get back to his feet here but Seres is keeping cool and he's managed to take O Brien's back.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.

Seres has the hooks in. O Brien is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Seres controlling the position well here. O Brien rolled but Seres kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

Seres is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Seamus O Brien.
