PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Otto McBean (ranked 526 p4p, 912 weight class) and Prince McVicker (ranked 34 p4p, 52 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Otto McBean!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Prince McVicker!
The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from McVicker. No joy for McBean on that attempt.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

McVicker looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

McVicker rushes McBean and presses him up against the cage.
McBean avoids the elbow strike from McVicker, against the cage.
McVicker throws a punch but it's blocked by McBean.
McBean tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
McBean is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables McVicker to keep the fight standing.

McVicker breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
McBean tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but McVicker swivels and escapes.

McVicker throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. McBean was covering up waiting for the punch and McVicker finishes the takedown easily into guard.
McVicker has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of McBean is proving hard to escape from.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

McVicker tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but McBean was well out of range. Poor timing from McVicker.
McBean wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
McVicker dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Prince McVicker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McBean dives in and grabs McVicker's left leg, looking for a takedown. McVicker pushes down on McBean's head and hops out.
McBean avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
McBean seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
McVicker throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck McBean on the side of the head.

It looks like Otto McBean has been cut.
McVicker slaps away a takedown attempt from McBean, before circling back to the center of the mat.
McBean shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says McVicker as he avoids it easily.

McVicker is in a bad position with McBean working for a choke. McVicker manages to spin nicely into guard and the danger is over for the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

McVicker throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent McBean stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Prince McVicker showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Otto McBean's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!


McBean changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. McVicker looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
McVicker is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on McBean's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
McBean is keen to just control but McVicker is a slippery customer.

McBean is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and McVicker defends it well.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

McVicker closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into McBean's guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

McVicker throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Nice uppercut lands for McVicker. That snapped McBean's head back.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
McBean tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. McVicker manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

I would just about give that final round to Prince McVicker.
Well McVicker has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
