Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sparky Anderson (ranked 673 p4p, 477 weight class) and Macho Man Randy (ranked 95 p4p, 62 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Anderson might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Pick up man. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sparky Anderson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Macho Man Randy!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Trevor Gratis and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Randy misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Anderson shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Anderson showed some decent athleticism there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Randy wants to get back to full guard.
Anderson performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Anderson's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Anderson has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Randy tries to reverse the position but Anderson maintains control.

Randy really wants to buck Anderson off and get back to his feet.

Anderson seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Randy for as long as he can get away with.

Anderson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Randy's waist but Randy gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Anderson off to one side.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Anderson in particular looking to stall.

Randy is looking for a sweep. Anderson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Anderson takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Randy has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at PhoQus Fight Club. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

Anderson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Randy keeps working.
Sparky Anderson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Randy has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Anderson is working away from the top position though.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Randy keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
Anderson looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Randy throws the left hand but Anderson avoids the punch easily.
Anderson fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Randy avoids it really well and circles away.
Randy throws out a counter right but Anderson avoids it with no problem.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Anderson.
Anderson shoots for a double leg takedown but Randy sprawls well. He's pushed Anderson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Anderson shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Randy manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Anderson wants to control from the top but Randy keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Randy is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Anderson is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Anderson has escaped and now he's on top!

Anderson goes for an armbar but Randy turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Randy.
Randy tries to free his leg and advance position but Anderson is retaining full guard.

Anderson has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Anderson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Randy defends it easily.
Randy wants to control from the top but Anderson keeps moving.
Anderson tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Anderson pulls Randy in close to his closed guard and prevents Randy from doing any damage or advancing position.

Randy drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Anderson dives on top into guard.


Randy has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Anderson is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Randy.

Anderson gets to mount! Randy was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Anderson tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Sparky Anderson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Sparky Anderson showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Anderson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
