Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mono Loco (ranked 1071 p4p, 1975 weight class) and Gilmat Kirk (ranked 122 p4p, 210 weight class). Kirk is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Lords of Iron. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 30 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mono Loco!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Gilmat Kirk!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Albert Achterberg and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Loco is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Kirk to keep the fight standing.

Kirk has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Loco clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Kirk is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Loco is defending well though. Kirk let's go of the attempt for now.

Loco's coaches at Beating a Dead Horse to Death Again have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.

Kirk is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Kirk is trying to stick to Loco's back but Loco is turning into Kirk. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Kirk's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Loco.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kirk manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Loco manages to get himself to full guard.

Loco is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Kirk is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Loco is controlling him.

Loco wants to take the fight to the mat but Kirk manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Loco looking to sit in guard and control but Kirk gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Loco looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kirk is one step ahead there.

Kirk chips away with some ground and pound.

Kirk avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Kirk got a little sloppy there for a moment and Loco has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kirk has managed to get both his arms back between Loco's legs - danger averted.

Kirk drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kirk jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Loco looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Kirk is defending well. Loco quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Kirk has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Loco celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:53 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Mono Loco!
Mono Loco seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
