PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Karim Johnson (ranked 13 p4p, 211 weight class) and Joe Clark (ranked 1 p4p, 5 weight class). Johnson comes into the arena with Don't say nuthin' blaring out of the sound system. Joe Clark told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the super heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Karim Johnson!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Joe Clark!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Donald Grub and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A shot to the body from Clark misses

and Johnson counters with a crisp one two that drops Clark! Johnson thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Clark to his feet! Clark is in big trouble!

and Clark counters with a nice body shot.
Johnson scores with a hook.
Johnson lands with a kick to the ribs.
Clark moves out of range of the body kick.

Clark throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Clark ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Johnson dips to his left and cracks Clark with an uppercut!

Clark throws out a counter right but Johnson avoids it with no problem.

Johnson uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Clark.
Clark takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Clark fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Johnson manages to avoid it.
Johnson clobbers Clark with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Clark throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Johnson is looking to chop away at Clark's legs.
Clark throws a sloppy body shot
and Johnson counters with a low kick, right behind Clark 's knee.

Johnson feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Clark sprawling to the canvas! Clark rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Johnson finish him?!

It looks like Joe Clark has been cut.

and Johnson counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Clark thinking.

Johnson sends Clark crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Johnson is motioning to the referee to let Clark up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

Clark takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Johnson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Clark can do to turn this around?

That kick from Johnson tenderised Clark's leg. Clark is trying to keep his angry face on.
Karim Johnson is winning the standup battle so far.
Clark throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Johnson on the side of the head.
Joe Clark seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Clark lands a glancing blow to the side of Johnson's head.
Both these guys seem content to just stand up and trade with each other but Clark might want to think about changing up his gameplan a bit because over the course of the fight, Johnson has got the better of the exchanges.

Clark doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Johnson drops Clark with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Clark looks back up at him and smiles so Johnson waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
