The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alopodis shoots in but no luck this time.

Phillips gets caught flat footed, as Alopodis shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Jack Phillips has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Alopodis stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Phillips swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Alopodis passes Phillips's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Phillips is looking to improve his position.
Phillips is looking to control Alopodis's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Phillips avoid being mounted?

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Phillips is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at HELLCADEMY, so we'll see if he gets out of it.

What can Phillips do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

Alopodis just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

Alopodis controlling the position well here. Phillips rolled but Alopodis kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Let's hope that Alopodis has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Phillips is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
