That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Mono Loco.

Undercard bout

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Keir Toal (ranked 1539 p4p, 3367 weight class) and Karsten Koererlaerer (ranked 144 p4p, 273 weight class). Toal comes to the cage accompanied by Irish Pub Song. Keir Toal had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 146.7lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Karsten Koererlaerer will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Fuguego has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Fuguego rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Alcala moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Paulsen Ambrosius and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Good leg kick by Goodman.
Chika keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Goodman rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Chika counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Chika dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Goodman ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Chika moves away.
Goodman scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
It looks like Chidi Chika has been cut.
Goodman misses with the body kick
and Chika connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Chika swats away the attempt to clinch by Goodman.
A looping hook to the body misses from Goodman. Chika does a little dance to reset his feet.
Chika throws a quick counter kick to the body but Goodman avoids it.
The fight stays on the outside here - Goodman looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Chika breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

and Chika counters with a good, hard body kick but Goodman shrugs it off.
Chika circles away from the clinch attempt.
Chika stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Goodman.
Goodman tries to close the distance and clinch up but Chika swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Chika appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
Goodman misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Goodman ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Chika moves away.

and Chika cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Goodman told us before the fight that he's been working on his elbows. An under utilised technique these days - let's see if it can sway the outcome of the fight.
Goodman throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Chikas head.
Goodman is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Chika pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Chika is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
