The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Finau throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Silva has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Kalashnikov ELITE MMA Gym in the buildup to the fight.
Shogun Silva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Finau feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Finau connects with a nice short shot to Silva's temple.
Finau has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Finau is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Silva can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Finau has hold of Silva's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Silva manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

He's trying desperately to grab hold of Finau around the waist but Finau pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Finau is the winner by TKO! Finau jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"
