Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Donald Trump!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 1, fighting out of London, Matt Askren!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Tiny Johnson and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab lands there for Trump.
Trump shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Askren is looking to score with low kicks.
Trump half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Askren takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Trump dips to his left and cracks Askren with an uppercut!
Trump looks to score with a jab to the body but Askren is just out of range.
Trump seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Trump shoots in but Askren avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Askren lands with a right hand.
Askren fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Trump getting the better of the striking in that exchange.

Trump shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Askren but Askren pushes him off and we're back to square one.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Askren uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Trump.

Maybe Trump would be better served going for some more strikes rather than trying to control so much.

Askren wants the takedown. Trump is fighting it off but Askren persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Trump's guard against the ropes.
Askren must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Trump has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Askren can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Trump tries to free his leg and advance position but Askren is retaining full guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Trump throws a big right hand that misses.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Trump accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Trump throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Trump goes for a double leg but Askren avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the ropes as Askren continues to drive forward.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Trump's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Trump shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Askren manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Askren can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Trump controls the pace.
Trump with a flurry of punches that miss.
Askren is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Askren working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.

Trump is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Askren slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Trump looking to hit a scissor sweep but Askren is one step ahead there.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Trump shoots in looking for a takedown but Askren manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Trump's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Askren connects with a nice short shot to Trump's temple.

Trump shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Askren as he avoids it easily.

Askren clinches up with Trump and pushes him back against the ropes.

Trump can't seem to implement his control oriented gameplan at the moment. That's no bad thing of course, for those of us who want to see a good fight.

Trump is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Askren's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Askren's back!
Trump is not going to allow Askren to sit and survive in this position.
Askren tries to escape but Trump has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

Trump is stalling here. Askren is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Trump seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Askren has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Well Askren has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
