PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Frank Dux (ranked 1313 p4p, 154 weight class) and Joan Vila (ranked 894 p4p, 104 weight class). Dux comes to the cage accompanied by Hot Chip - Over and Over. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Joan Vila!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vila throws a nice looking combination but Dux bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Dux throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Dux takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Vila misses with an uppercut.
Vila scores with a jab to the body.
The fighters circling - Vila throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Dux half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Dux looks to land a left hand but Vila moved out of range nicely.
Vila throws a looping overhand right but Dux ducks down to avoid it.
Dux misses with a straight left.
Dux misses with a looping left.
Vila has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Vila steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Dux.
Vila lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Dux circles away quickly and effectively.
Dux drops down looking for a counter takedown but Vila sprawls and moves away.
Vila jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Vila looks to land a right hand but Dux moved out of range.
Dux half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

Dux takes the fight into the clinch.
Dux throws a head punch that misses.

Dux lands a takedown into guard.
Dux will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Dux is really struggling to control Vila but he's trying to hold on to the position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Dux shoots in but no luck this time.
Dux doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Vila looks to land a body kick but Dux moved away.
Vila throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Vila swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Dux takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Dux tries to clinch up but Vila circles away and keeps his distance.

Dux fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Vila, pushing him back against the cage.

Vila gets control of Dux's arms and successfully pulls guard. Vila will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Vila working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Dux doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Vila is tightening it up a little... Dux has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Dux reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Dux taps out! Nice BJJ there by Vila!
