PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Walter Sobchak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eric Esch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Sobchak might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Eric Esch!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Cecil Peabody and Chris Downing.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Esch dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Sobchak slips a jab and a cross from Esch.
Sobchak misses with a straight left.
Esch throws a series of punches but Sobchak avoids them all with ease.
Esch throws a right hand that misses
and Sobchak counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Esch misses with a body shot.
It looked like Sobchak wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Esch goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

It looks like Walter Sobchak has been cut.
Esch has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Sobchak tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Esch was well out of range. Poor timing from Sobchak.
Sobchak moves out of range as Esch strikes.
Sobchak moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Esch throws a combination that misses
and Sobchak counters with an inside leg kick.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

It looks like Eric Esch has been cut.
Sobchak uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Esch.
Sobchak feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Eschs jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Esch lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Sobchak circles away quickly and effectively.

Esch throws a series of punches but Sobchak avoids them all with ease.

Esch misses with a straight right.
Sobchak is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Esch moves away from the strike by Sobchak.

Esch looks to land a left hand but Sobchak moved out of range nicely.
Esch misses with a wild body shot.
Sobchak is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Esch cracks Sobchak with a right hand to the side of the head.
Sobchak is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

Esch motions for Sobchak to come forward. Esch throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Esch has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Sobchak lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.

That has opened up Eric Esch's cut even more.
Sobchak throws a hook but Esch avoids it easily.
Esch throws a front kick aimed at Sobchak's knee but Sobchak avoids it well.
Sobchak is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Sobchak lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Sobchak scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Sobchak throws a jab but it's blocked by Esch.
Sobchak displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Esch throws out the jab.
Sobchak finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Esch takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Sobchak rushes Esch and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch.

The cut above Eric Esch's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Esch misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Sobchak.
Sobchak scores with a sloppy right hand. Esch should have avoided that one.

and Sobchak counters with a nice uppercut that drops Esch onto his backside! Esch bounces straight back to his feet before we have a chance to even start the count. He'll get the standing 8 count anyway before we get back underway.

Eric Esch's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

and Sobchak counters with a huge right that knocks Esch out cold! Sobchak is running around with a crazed look on his face - you can see how much that meant to him!
