PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Lucas Blye (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marlo Stanfield (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Stanfield's choice of entrance music: Legendary. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Lucas Blye!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Marlo Stanfield!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Frank Dennis and Gwen Towbar.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stanfield lands a slapping body shot.
Stanfield has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Blye scores with a crisp jab that stopped Stanfield in his tracks.
Blye swings widly with a right hand
and Stanfield counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Blye lands a nice leg kick that just misses Stanfield's sensitive parts.
A punch lands to the side of Stanfield 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Blye displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Stanfield throws out the jab.

Blye closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Stanfield breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Stanfield looks to land a right hand but Blye moved out of range.
Blye drops down looking for a counter takedown but Stanfield sprawls and moves away.

Blye shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Blye showed some decent athleticism there.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Blye connects with a nice short shot to Stanfield's temple.

Blye prevents Stanfield from standing back up.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Stanfield tries to kick Blye off but Blye keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Blye lands a nice short elbow.

Stanfield is trying to stand up here but Blye is controlling him well.

Stanfield tries to break free but Blye pushes him back against the cage.
Stanfield wants to break the clinch but can't.
Blye gets through Stanfield's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Stanfield is looking to break free of the clinch but Blye has double underhooks.

Blye looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Stanfield uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Blye.
Blye takes a swing at Stanfield's ribcage but misses.
As Blye backs off Stanfield throws a huge counter combo but Blye manages to avoid it all.
Blye walks into a stiff left hand from Stanfield.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Stanfield throws a jab when Blye was well out of range.
Blye lunges at Stanfield with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Stanfield's hand.

Stanfield scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Blye with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Blye cracks Stanfield with a good jab.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

A punch lands to the side of Blye 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Marlo Stanfield is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Stanfield fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Blye manages to avoid it.
Blye fails with a takedown attempt.
Blye throws a big shot that misses.

Blye gets in close and instigates a clinch.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Blye.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Stanfield breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Blye lands a nice shot that snaps Stanfield's head back.

Blye lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

Blye takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Blye lands with a nice combination. Stanfield backs away looking to recover.
Stanfield is still on wobbly legs! Can Blye finish him?
Blye is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Stanfield can do to turn this around?
Blye goes for a double leg but Stanfield avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Stanfield continues to drive forward.
Stanfield seems to have recovered his senses.
Stanfield moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.

Blye is rocked!
Stanfield jabs Blye right on the nose. Blye blinks but takes it well.
Oh Blye is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Blye looks up at the clock. Bad move! Stanfield lands a right hand from hell, dropping Blye. Stanfield pounces and finishes the fight with a flurry of punches and elbows.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:38 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Marlo Stanfield!
