Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Dave Kopp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Morales (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dave Kopp!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, James Morales!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Morales looks to throw the jab but Kopp is out of range.
Kopp seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Kopp avoids the body shot from Morales.
Kopp slips a jab and a cross from Morales.
Kopp wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Morales thows a left - swing and a miss!
Kopp tries to counter by clinching up but Morales breaks away and moves out of range.
Kopp tries to score a power double leg takedown but Morales sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kopp somewhat.
Morales throws a counter combo.
Morales lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Morales throws a hook but Kopp avoids it easily.
Kopp takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Kopp changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Morales tries to avoid it but Kopp manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Morales to the ground. Morales escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Horrible takedown attempt by Kopp or perhaps it was just good defense by Morales, which made it look bad.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dave Kopp. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Morales misses with a double jab.
A nice leg kick lands there from Morales.
A looping hook to the body misses from Kopp. Morales does a little dance to reset his feet.
Morales looks to land a combination but Kopp avoids it well.

Morales throws out a loose jab but Kopp uses good head movement to avoid it.
Kopp doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Kopp walks into a stiff left hand from Morales.
Kopp takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Kopp closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Kopp lands in his opponent's guard.
Kopp throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Morales works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Morales can do anything to dispel that myth.
Kopp throws an elbow that misses. Morales uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Kopp's guard. Nice move by Morales!

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kopp is on top in guard.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Kopp lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Kopp throwing strikes but missing.
Kopp chips away with some ground and pound.
Kopp is looking to work some ground and pound but Morales has wrist control.
Kopp with a flurry of punches that miss.

Kopp pushes down on Morales's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Kopp not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Kopp not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Kopp looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Morales with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Kopp working over Morales with some ground and pound. Morales looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Kopp thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kopp moves nicely into side control.
Kopp misses with an attempted head punch from side control.

Kopp tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This has been an exciting period of action!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dave Kopp dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Morales keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Kopp shoots in for a double leg but Morales sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
James Morales seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Morales looks to score with a jab to the body but Kopp is just out of range.
Kopp changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Morales dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Kopp. That did some damage!
Kopp defending well as Morales loads up on a big left hand.

Morales gets a clinch.
Kopp blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Morales lands a good knee to the midsection. Kopp won't want to take too many of those.
Morales is defending well against a takedown attempt.

Kopp gets control of Morales's arms and successfully pulls guard. Kopp will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Morales wanted to stand there but Kopp had control of the position.

Morales looking to sit in guard and control but Kopp gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Kopp thows a huge punch but Morales dodges it nicely.

Kopp thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Morales's head.

Morales on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

Kopp throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Kopp thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Morales's head.
Kopp frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Morales really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kopp. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Morales is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Kopp throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Morales because Kopp loaded up on that one.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Kopp here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

Kopp fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Morales is in a horrible position here. Kopp smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Morales is rocked!
Dave Kopp overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Kopp breaks from Morales's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Morales is still in real trouble! Can Kopp finish him?
Kopp postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Morales badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Kopp around the waist but Kopp pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Kopp is the winner by TKO! Kopp jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Dave Kopp!

An out of breath Dave Kopp thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
