Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Slopey Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pluto Palhares (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Smith comes to the cage accompanied by Jawga Boyz - Rollin Like A Redneck. Palhares has chosen TOQUINHO as his entrance music. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Pluto Palhares was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Palhares shoots in looking for a takedown but Smith manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Palhares's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Smith has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Palhares shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Smith defends it nicely.
Smith throws a big shot that misses.

Smith bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Palhares's head backwards.
Pluto Palhares seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Smith counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That was a close round but I would say that Slopey Smith will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Palhares misses with a takedown attempt - Smith sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Smith feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
