Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Karl Katze!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Todd mcPherson!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
mcPherson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Katze as he avoids it easily.
mcPherson shoots in but no luck this time.

Katze has closed the distance and engaged mcPherson in a clinch.
Katze has mcPherson pushed against the cage.
Katze wants a takedown.
mcPherson tries to pull guard but Katze holds him up against the cage and eventually mcPherson drops back down to his feet.
Karl Katze has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Todd mcPherson.

Katze works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

mcPherson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Katze doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Katze manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

mcPherson had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Katze is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. mcPherson Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Katze's back instead.
Katze wants to control his opponent's hands but mcPherson gets his hands free.
Katze can't escape the position.
Katze turns into mcPherson and is now in his guard.

mcPherson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Katze can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
mcPherson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

mcPherson wants to sweep here but Katze controlling him for the moment.

mcPherson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
mcPherson tries for a takedown but Katze sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

mcPherson misses with a takedown attempt - Katze sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

The fight stays on the outside here - Katze looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

mcPherson tries to buck Katze off but Katze is having none of it.
mcPherson gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Katze wants to control but mcPherson is keeping him busy.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Katze connects with a nice short shot to mcPherson's temple.

mcPherson won't allow Katze to pass to mount.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
mcPherson is trying to maintain the position but Katze is very close to passing his half guard.
Katze lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Karl Katze dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Katze wants to clinch up but mcPherson keeps it at a distance.
mcPherson has his takedown stuffed

and Katze counters by moving into the clinch.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Katze stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. mcPherson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Katze is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but mcPherson has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Katze is looking to defend but mcPherson has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Katze! mcPherson pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Katze taps out and this one is all over!
