The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Ryoma Takatsuka and Josh West.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mazor tries to score with a low kick but Mayfield moves his leg out of the way.
Mayfield will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Mazor throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Mayfield.
Mayfield feints a jab promting Mazor to slip. Mayfield then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Mazor slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Mayfield feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Mazors jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Mazor scores with a one two! Mayfield had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Mazor is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
A telegraphed right hand from Mayfield misses the target.
Mazor gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Mayfield really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Mayfield swings wildly with an uppercut but Mazor uses good head movement to avoid it.

Mayfield wants to take the fight to the mat but Mazor manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Thomas Mayfield. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mayfield has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Mazor is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Mazor takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Mayfield drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Mazor gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Mazor unloads a knee to the mid-section.
Mazor is trying to maintain a safe position but Mayfield gets an underhook and turns Mazor into the cage.
Mayfield gets control of Mazor's arms and successfully pulls guard. Mayfield will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Mayfield on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Mayfield tries to get out of the position.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Mayfield is trying to keep Mazor in close.
Mazor tries to free his leg and advance position but Mayfield is retaining full guard.
Mazor wants to get up but he can't break Mayfield's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Mayfield is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Mazor frees his head nicely. Oh but Mayfield has switched to an armbar! Mazor is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
