Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Menes Kai (ranked 2585 p4p, 2571 weight class) and Darren Tolbert (ranked 256 p4p, 255 weight class). Kai comes to the cage accompanied by The Astronaut - Jin. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

With a record of 6 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Darren Tolbert!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Yves DeLean and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tolbert misses with a few strikes there.
Kai is looking to score with low kicks.
Sloppy strikes from Tolbert. Those never looked like landing.
Tolbert just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromKai.
A big left from Kai misses.
Kai with a nice calf kick.
Kai stuns Tolbert with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Tolbert misses with a hook
and Tolbert takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Tolbert takes a swing at Kai's ribcage but misses.
Kai lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
Tolbert tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Tolbert moves in looking to clinch but Kai pushes him off.
It looked like Kai was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Kai fails to land with a series of punches.

A little jabbing left from Tolbert on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Kai tries to score with a low kick but Tolbert moves his leg out of the way.

Tolbert stuns Kai with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Kai lands a jab.
The fighters circling - Tolbert throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Kai throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Tolbert stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Tolbert uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Kai.

Kai steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Tolbert.
Kai has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Kai throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Tolbert on the side of the head.
Kai throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Kai tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Tolbert is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
A looping hook to the body misses from Kai. Tolbert does a little dance to reset his feet.

Kai throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

and Tolbert cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Kai bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Kai throws a hook but Tolbert avoids it easily.

Kai pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Kai uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Tolbert.
Kai connects with a high kick.
Tolbert swings widly with a right hand
and Kai counters with a good, hard body kick but Tolbert shrugs it off.
Tolbert takes a kick to the side of the head.
Tolbert cracks Kai with an open hand slap.
Kai is rocked!
Tolbert throws a pinpoint strike between Kai's hands that connects right on the jaw and sends Kai crashing to the floor! He's out before he even hits the mat and Tolbert scores a great knockout victory!

A relieved looking Darren Tolbert thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
