Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Scott Thompson (ranked 1080 p4p, 1440 weight class) and Wanderlei Rua (ranked 125 p4p, 168 weight class). Thompson comes to the cage accompanied by Redneck Summer - Ben Hudson. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Wanderlei Rua was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Scott Thompson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Wanderlei Rua!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Micheangelo Fripello and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thompson throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Rua was covering up waiting for the punch and Thompson finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Thompson stops Rua from standing up.
Rua is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Rua keeping moving, preventing Thompson from controlling successfully.
Thompson is working Rua over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
It looks like Wanderlei Rua has been cut.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Thompson keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Rua's head.
Thompson is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
That has opened up Wanderlei Rua's cut even more.
Rua wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Thompson manages to pass to side control.
Rua has hold of Thompson's hands but Thompson slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Wanderlei Rua's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Wanderlei Rua's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Scott Thompson!
Scott Thompson made sure to give a little speech post fight, saying 'Yeah baby! Sending all my love to my wife and baby at home, they're waiting for me and support me all the way, and love that I'm bringing home the W. Looking forward to sleeping in my own bed, that's for sure!'.
