PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cottonpicker Curtis (ranked 1915 p4p, 3646 weight class) and Rodtang Inamo (ranked 88 p4p, 133 weight class). Curtis comes to the ring accompanied by Dance with the Devil. This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 1 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 1, fighting out of New York, Cottonpicker Curtis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rodtang Inamo!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Taro Takaoka and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Curtis swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Inamo counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Curtis misses with an attempted mid kick.
Inamo is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Curtis takes a head kick and keeps coming.

It looks like Cottonpicker Curtis has been cut.
Curtis throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Inamo counters with a low kick, right behind Curtis 's knee.
Inamo blocks a head kick by Curtis.
Despite the aggression on Inamo's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

Curtis closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Inamo to the mat! Inamo manages to get full guard.

Curtis seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Rodtang Inamo is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Inamo throws a push kick but Curtis slaps the foot to one side.
Inamo fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Curtis has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Inamo keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Curtis closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Curtis tries to stand but can't do so whilst Inamo controls his leg.
Curtis is looking to take a break and control but Inamo is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Curtis wants to free his trapped foot but Inamo is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Inamo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Curtis. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Curtis wants to stand but Inamo has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Curtis is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Curtis wants to control but Inamo is keeping him busy.

Curtis seems to be working for a kimura but Inamo defends the submission attempt.

Curtis seems to be looking for submissions.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Curtis throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Inamo wants to get back to full guard.
Well, if Curtis is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Curtis is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Curtis is nestled in close to Inamo, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Inamo is looking to improve his position.

Inamo is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Curtis pulls his head out easily.

Inamo is defending against the submission attempts here by Curtis.
Inamo is staying active underneath Curtis, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Inamo wants to improve his position but Curtis is controlling well.
Curtis wants to free his trapped foot but Inamo is holding on for dear life with his legs.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Curtis is defended easily by Inamo.
Inamo throws a head kick but Curtis moves out of range.

so Curtis counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Curtis is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Curtis advances to half guard.
Inamo looks winded!
Inamo is refusing to be controlled, as Curtis sits in half guard.
Curtis perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Curtis is working for a kimura but Inamo is defending it quite comfortably.
Curtis is taking a breather. Inamo says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

That's eight minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Curtis works his way into full mount!

Inamo felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Inamo holds on for dear life.
Inamo wants to hold on but Curtis pushes him away.
Curtis tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Curtis has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

That's nine minutes gone in the round.

Curtis is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
Curtis pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Inamo displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Curtis.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cottonpicker Curtis. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A lazy left from Inamo finds it's target.

Curtis closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that's the end of the fight!
Cottonpicker Curtis showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Curtis has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Cottonpicker Curtis really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that BANZAI NUTRITION logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
