PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nacho Cheese (ranked 1049 p4p, 752 weight class) and Kamil Marek (ranked 120 p4p, 89 weight class). Marek has chosen Burn It Down as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nacho Cheese!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Kamil Marek!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Paul Aken and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cheese misses with the combination.
Marek bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Cheese works Marek's body with a nice hook.
Cheese throws a leg kick
and Marek connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Cheese missing with a left hand there. Marek was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Marek has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Marek there as he acknowledges the shot.

Marek tries to counter with a clinch but Cheese shakes him off and moves away.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Cheese throws a hook to the side of Marek's head but Marek sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Marek unleashes a big counter combination but Cheese bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

We've been told by Cheese's head coaches at Fireball Zone that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

and Marek counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

It looked like Cheese wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Marek throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Marek ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Cheese moves away.
Cheese swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.

and Marek counters by moving into the clinch.

Marek ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Marek no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Marek has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Cheese can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Cheese got a little sloppy there for a moment and Marek has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Cheese has managed to get both his arms back between Marek's legs - danger averted.

That was a close round but I would say that Nacho Cheese will probably get the nod.

Marek swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Cheese.
Cheese bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Marek's head backwards.
Marek shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Cheese misses with a looping right.
The crowd cheers as Cheese lands an impressive looking overhand right. Marek doesn't seem phased though.
Cheese looks to land a left hand but Marek moved out of range nicely.
Cheese lands with a shot to the body.

Marek on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Cheese. Cheese obviously looking to wear him down.
Marek stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Cheese.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Cheese lands with a hook. Marek tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Cheese cracks Marek with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Cheese throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Marek takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Cheese throws a lazy right hand but Marek sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Nacho Cheese seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cheese lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Cheese throws a series of punches but Marek moves out of range.
Marek fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Cheese has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

A little jabbing left from Marek on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

Marek takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Cheese was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

Cheese fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Marek manages to avoid it.

Marek takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Marek needs to keep his hands up - Cheese had a free shot at his head there.

Marek displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Cheese throws out the jab.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Marek is squirming around, avoiding Cheese's attempts to control the action.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Nacho Cheese.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Cheese, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
