PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tauski Toheltaja (ranked 2765 p4p, 2958 weight class) and Oliver Kingswell (ranked 260 p4p, 270 weight class). Oliver Kingswell told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Tauski Toheltaja!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Oliver Kingswell!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Gwen Towbar and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kingswell tries to close the distance and clinch but Toheltaja swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Toheltaja was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Toheltaja bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Kingswell's head.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Kingswell enables Toheltaja to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Kingswell manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Toheltaja might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Kingswell preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Kingswell had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Toheltaja defends it easily.

Toheltaja drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Kingswell manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Toheltaja has Kingswell in his guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Toheltaja is doing well to control the position and prevent Kingswell from advancing to side control.

Toheltaja has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kingswell is working away from the top position though.

Toheltaja knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kingswell on the ground.

A close round but Oliver Kingswell will probably get the nod.

Kingswell has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Toheltaja is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Kingswell.
Kingswell is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Toheltaja's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Toheltaja rolls with it to try and escape but Kingswell cranks on the arm and Toheltaja is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

A relieved looking Oliver Kingswell thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
