PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Zygfryd Piskor (ranked 1831 p4p, 2060 weight class) and Archie Evans (ranked 149 p4p, 166 weight class). Piskor kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Klatka. Archie Evans will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 1 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Zygfryd Piskor!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Archie Evans!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Shigeki Sano and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Evans throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Piskor.
Evans lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Piskor at a distance.
Evans fails with an attempt to clinch.
Piskor changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Evans tries to close the distance and clinch up but Piskor swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Evans smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Piskor misses with a takedown
and Evans counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Evans scores with a nice head shot.
Evans throws a shot to the body.
Piskor darts in looking for a takedown but Evans gets double underhooks and turns Piskor into the ropes.
Evans lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Piskor takes a shot to the head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Evans stops a takedown attempt from Piskor.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Zygfryd Piskor. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Piskor is trying to trip Evans. He has hold of a leg but Evans is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Piskor persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Evans pushes Piskor off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Piskor shoots for a takedown but Evans saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Zygfryd Piskor seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

A nice side step and Evans releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.

Evans has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the ropes to get back to his feet. Piskor has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the ropes.

Still in the clinch, Evans scores with a nice short uppercut.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Evans.

Piskor turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Piskor manages to end up in side control.

Evans sneaks out the side door and pushes Piskor away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Evans has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Piskor is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Piskor changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Evans tries to avoid it but Piskor manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Evans to the ground. Evans escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
No luck for Piskor with that takedown attempt.
Horrible takedown attempt by Piskor or perhaps it was just good defense by Evans, which made it look bad.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Piskor shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Evans's guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Piskor needs to keep his hands up - Evans had a free shot at his head there.
Evans fails with an attempt to clinch.
Piskor closes this distance looking for a takedown but Evans circles away.
Piskor shoots in but Evans avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Archie Evans is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
The fighters circle momentarily. Evans darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Nice sprawl there from Evans as Piskor shoots in.
Piskor shoots in looking for a takedown. Evans tries to sprawl out of it but Piskor keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Evans manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Piskor shoots in but Evans avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Evans stuffs the takedown attempt from Piskor. Piskor gets slowly back to his feet.
Piskor shoots in but no luck this time.
Evans steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Piskor.
Evans throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Piskor dives in and grabs Evans's left leg, looking for a takedown. Evans pushes down on Piskor's head and hops out.
Evans sizes up Piskor with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Piskor is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight.

That's seven minutes gone in the round.
Evans paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Piskor shoots in looking for a takedown but Evans manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Piskor's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Piskor takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Piskor gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Evans connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Piskor is rocked!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Piskor is defended easily by Evans.
Well,Piskor is on his way to losing a decision here. Can he use his experience to pull something off in the closing minutes?

Evans sends Piskor crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Evans is motioning to the referee to let Piskor up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
Oh Piskor is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Piskor had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Evans defends it easily.
Archie Evans is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Piskor is looking for a triangle here but Evans uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

And that's the end of the fight!
Archie Evans comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Evans has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

After the fight, Archie Evans was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
