Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Baba Timone (ranked 2337 p4p, 2768 weight class) and Cottonpicker Curtis (ranked 101 p4p, 110 weight class). Curtis has chosen Dance with the Devil as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 1 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Cottonpicker Curtis!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Shirou Masuda and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Curtis gets a takedown into half guard.
Curtis thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Timone's head.
Curtis performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Curtis trying to mount his opponent but Timone defends it.
Curtis controlling the pace.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Curtis is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Timone doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Curtis.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Curtis wants to pass the guard but Timone is defending well.
Timone on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Curtis passes the guard and advances to mount!
Curtis looking to control but Timone is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Poor strikes thrown by Curtis there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Timone is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Curtis looking to control but Timone is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Curtis is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Timone has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Timone!

Curtis looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Curtis looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Timone is fighting to break Curtis's control of his arms but Curtis is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Curtis bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Timone's guard.

Curtis trying to control the position from guard on top but Timone is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Timone wants to stand up but Curtis is controlling him.
Curtis looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

That's five minutes gone in the round.
Curtis prevents Timone from getting back to his feet.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Curtis wants to control from the top but Timone keeps moving.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Timone enables Curtis to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Timone manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Curtis seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Timone wants to stand up but Curtis is controlling him.
Curtis with a nice head shot there.
Curtis working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Timone's head.

Curtis tries to free his leg and advance position but Timone is retaining full guard.
Curtis is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Curtis sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Timone's guard.
Curtis keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Timone scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Curtis manages to mount him!
Curtis controlling the pace for now.
We've been informed that Curtis has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Curtis is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Timone is surviving well by controlling Curtis's body position as best he can.

That's seven minutes gone in the round.
Timone has given up his back, trying to stand up. Not clever.
Curtis is landing with strikes. Timone can't take much more of this.
Timone is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
Timone covers up after that shot from Curtis.
Can Timone hold on?! Curtis is landing more strikes to his hapless foe.
Curtis is landing with strikes from the back.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Curtis controlling the positon.

That's eight minutes gone in the round.

Timone preventing the rear naked choke attempt from Curtis.
Timone is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

Curtis sinks in the hooks and is looking for the choke. He's got it! Timone taps out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 8:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Cottonpicker Curtis!
