Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ciro Tavernelli (ranked 1285 p4p, 2911 weight class) and Splash Tetra (ranked 166 p4p, 309 weight class). Tetra has chosen Splash - Championxiii as his entrance music. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 1 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ciro Tavernelli! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Splash Tetra! The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Yuuki Gou and Shigeki Sano.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tavernelli looks to throw the jab but Tetra is out of range. Tetra lands with a thumping leg kick.
Tetra throws a head kick that misses. A little feinted left hand from Tavernelli on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Tavernelli gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Tavernelli looks to land a right hand but Tetra moved out of range. Tetra is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Tavernelli with a body shot. Tavernelli ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Tavernelli attempts a counter takedown but Tetra avoids it well and moves away. Tetra misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Tetra moves out of range of the strikes. Tetra lets loose with a powerful body kick. Tavernelli will feel that in the morning. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Tavernelli throws a lazy right hand but Tetra sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Jab, jab by Tavernelli - just one landing.
Tavernelli scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Tavernelli landing strikes.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Tetra is trying to control Tavernelli's posture but Tavernelli avoids it. Tetra is trying to improve his position. Tetra is not content to let Tavernelli control the position. The ground and pound from Tavernelli seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Tetra is working to avoid the ground and pound but Tavernelli connects with a decent elbow. A lull in the action here.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Tetra can't do much from the bottom here. Tavernelli trying to control the position but Tetra is working away. Tavernelli has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.  The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Splash Tetra is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Tetra displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Tavernelli throws out the jab. Tavernelli missing with a left hand there. Tetra was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Tetra steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect. Nice shot lands for Tavernelli. Tetra explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.

Tavernelli has had enough of the clinch but Tetra keeps him there for the moment. Tavernelli lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Tetra throws a punch but it's blocked by Tavernelli. Tetra tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Tavernelli's elbow. Tavernelli blocks an uppercut.

Tavernelli looking to hit a scissor sweep but Tetra is one step ahead there. Tetra must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Tavernelli manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Tetra manages to get himself to full guard.
Tavernelli working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Tetra's head. Tetra looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Tavernelli throws a big elbow that misses. Tavernelli trying to control the position from guard on top but Tetra is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
 That's six minutes gone in the round. Tavernelli is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Tetra is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Tetra really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Tavernelli. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Tavernelli trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Tetra keeping moving, preventing Tavernelli from controlling successfully. Tetra trying to control the position.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Tetra holds on and takes a little breather. Tavernelli with a flurry of punches that miss. Splash Tetra has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
 That's seven minutes gone in the round. Tavernelli trying to control but Tetra is working from the bottom.
 The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Tetra misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Tavernelli counters with a straight right hand. Horrible takedown attempt by Tavernelli or perhaps it was just good defense by Tetra, which made it look bad. Tetra takes one to the chin there. Ciro Tavernelli is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Tavernelli fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Tetra on the side of the head. Tavernelli misses with a looping right. Tavernelli throws a shot from downtown. Tetra moves away and avoids it. Tavernelli throws the left hand but Tetra avoids the punch easily. Tetra thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Tavernelli if he has to take too many more of those.
 That's eight minutes gone in the round. Tetra fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Tetra looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. Tavernelli attempts a counter takedown but Tetra avoids it well and moves away. Tavernelli uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Tetra. Tavernelli misses the jab. Tavernelli looks to land a right hand but Tetra moved out of range. Tavernelli with a poor takedown and Tetra counters with a nice low kick that buckles Tavernelli's knee momentarily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ciro Tavernelli. That's going to take a lot out of him. Tavernelli needs to keep his hands up - Tetra had a free shot at his head there. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Tavernelli moves out of range of the body kick.
