Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Fred Young (ranked 955 p4p, 995 weight class) and Ken Shamrock (ranked 44 p4p, 21 weight class). Shamrock has chosen Dangerous Entrance Theme as his entrance music. The key to victory for Fred Young has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 27 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Fred Young!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ken Shamrock!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Percy O'Donnell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Young throws a jab but it's blocked by Shamrock.
Young has been working on his boxing with his coaches at The Backyard MMA | Elite Coaches in the buildup to the fight.
Young throws a front kick aimed at Shamrock's knee but Shamrock avoids it well.
Shamrock feints the counter takedown.
Shamrock with a lazy takedown attempt
and Young counters with a nice leg kick.
Fred Young seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Young throws a chopping leg kick but Shamrock manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Young throws out a loose jab but Shamrock uses good head movement to avoid it.

Shamrock manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Young on his heels. He'll look to pass Young's guard now, I'm sure.

It looks like Shamrock might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

My spies in Freakshow Gym inform me that Shamrock has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
No luck for Shamrock with that takedown attempt.

Shamrock feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Shamrock darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Shamrock looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Shamrock is just content to waste time from the top position. Young takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Young wants to sweep but no luck.
Shamrock trying to control but Young is working from the bottom.
Shamrock is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Young looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Shamrock puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Shamrock has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Young.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Young throws a wild body kick that Shamrock sees coming a mile off.
Shamrock drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Young defends it well.
Young rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Shamrock moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Young tried to score with a low kick but Shamrock checks it.
Shamrock's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.

Young cracks Shamrock with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Young has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Shamrock to stand back up!
