Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Aleksandr Pushkin!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jonas Karlsson!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Matheus Silva and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Karlsson fails with an attempt to clinch.
Pushkin gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Karlsson counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Pushkin drives through and clinches with Karlsson against the cage.

Pushkin takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Pushkin tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Karlsson just stands there and leans against the cage.

I was talking to Pushkin's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Pushkin is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Karlsson to keep the fight standing.

Karlsson decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Pushkin, up you get!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Pushkin tries to pull guard but Karlsson won't allow it.

Nice body punch from Karlsson - that landed with a thud.
Pushkin jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Karlsson walks away with a smile on his face. Pushkin gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Pushkin shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Karlsson is trying to defend but Pushkin finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Karlsson manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Pushkin keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Karlsson is fighting off a takedown attempt but Pushkin is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Karlsson to the mat. Karlsson regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Pushkin sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Karlsson's guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Pushkin is pressing down on Karlsson's thigh, looking to free his foot. Karlsson is holding on for now.

Pushkin throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Karlsson's waist but Karlsson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Pushkin off to one side.

Oh Pushkin is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
