Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Liwa Kursiwa (ranked 1541 p4p, 713 weight class) and Mer Lo (ranked 147 p4p, 74 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 17 - 19 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Liwa Kursiwa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 16 - 7 - 1, fighting out of London, Mer Lo! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kursiwa ducks under a wild hook from Lo. Lo misses with a lunging right hand
and Kursiwa counters with a solid body kick. A chopping leg kick lands by Kursiwa. Lo throws a left and a right that both miss
and Kursiwa counters with a nice uppercut. Kursiwa shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Kursiwa looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Lo enables Kursiwa to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Lo manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Kursiwa postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Kursiwa wants to pass the guard but Lo is keeping the position.
Lo is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Kursiwa defends well. Kursiwa throwing strikes from guard but Lo blocks nicely.

 That's one minute gone in the round. Kursiwa landing with the ground and pound. Kursiwa content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Kursiwa in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Lo controls Kursiwa momentarily but Kursiwa frees himself.

Kursiwa stands up over Lo, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Lo had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Kursiwa defends it easily.

 That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Kursiwa pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Lo is keeping the position for now. Kursiwa landing with the ground and pound. Kursiwa sitting in guard here, content to control. Kursiwa scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Kursiwa chips away with some ground and pound.
Kursiwa got a little sloppy there for a moment and Lo has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kursiwa has managed to get both his arms back between Lo's legs - danger averted. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kursiwa postures up and lands a big shot to Lo's brow.
Lo is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Kursiwa frees his head nicely. Oh but Lo has switched to an armbar! Kursiwa is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
