Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Aleksandr Pushkin (ranked 120 p4p, 229 weight class) and Spider Monkey (ranked 15 p4p, 28 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 13 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Aleksandr Pushkin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 34 - 22 - 2, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Spider Monkey! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Hirohito Nitta and Kenichi Hosakawa.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Monkey throws a predictable looking body shot
and Pushkin counters with a takedown into side control. Pushkin trying to control the position but Monkey is working away.
Pushkin thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Pushkin wants to control but Monkey is keeping him busy. Monkey is looking to regain half guard here but Pushkin keeps moving and retains side control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pushkin wants to lay and pray for a moment but Monkey keeps working. Monkey is looking for a sweep.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Pushkin works to advance to full mount. Monkey defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Monkey really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Monkey sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Pushkin controlling the action here. Monkey is looking for a sweep. Pushkin is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Pushkin sitting and controlling from the half guard. Monkey gets back to full guard.
 That's two minutes gone in the round.
Monkey has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Pushkin can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Pushkin sitting in guard, not really doing much. Pushkin trying to control the position from guard on top but Monkey is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Pushkin tries to free his leg and advance position but Monkey is retaining full guard. Pushkin's corner is telling him to maintain position.
 The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Monkey thows a left - swing and a miss! Pushkin takes a jab right on the kisser.
Monkey throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Pushkin stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Monkey connects with a body shot. Monkey throws a leg kick that is checked
and Pushkin counters with a takedown into side control. Pushkin is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Pushkin wants to control but Monkey is keeping him busy. Pushkin has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Monkey! Monkey is in all sorts of trouble here.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Pushkin can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Monkey is looking to escape. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pushkin controlling from the full mount. Pushkin prevents Monkey from getting the reversal. Pushkin tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Monkey is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Monkey regains half guard. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Aleksandr Pushkin dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Monkey lands with a straight right. Pushkin didn't see that one coming. Nice uppercut there from Monkey. That kick from Monkey tenderised Pushkin's leg. Pushkin is trying to keep his angry face on.
Pushkin feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Pushkin trying to control the position from guard on top but Monkey is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Monkey is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Pushkin defends well. Pushkin trying to control but Monkey is working from the bottom.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Monkey tries to land a sweep but no joy. Pushkin is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Monkey looking to sweep here. No luck so far. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

 That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Pushkin closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Pushkin looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Monkey gets full guard. Pushkin looking to pass the guard. Pushkin showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Pushkin seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Monkey for as long as he can get away with.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Monkey keeping moving, preventing Pushkin from controlling successfully. Pushkin passes into half guard. Pushkin performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Pushkin is keen to just control but Monkey is a slippery customer. Monkey gets full guard. Pushkin trying to control the position from guard on top but Monkey is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Monkey wants to sweep but no luck. Pushkin trying to control but Monkey is working from the bottom.
 The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Pushkin shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Monkey counters with a nice uppercut. The fighters circling - Monkey throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Pushkin looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Spider Monkey seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Monkey throws a lazy body kick
and Pushkin counters with a takedown into side control. Pushkin taking a breather here. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Aleksandr Pushkin dominated that second round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Pushkin with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Monkey to score with a decent uppercut. Monkey has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Pushkin is landing a low percentage of strikes. Pushkin slips under a jab from Monkey. Monkey misses with a kick to the body
and Pushkin decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Monkey's guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.  That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Pushkin tries to reverse the position but Monkey maintains control. Pushkin regains half guard. Pushkin trying to hold on to Monkey's head to control him but Monkey postures up.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Aleksandr Pushkin. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Pushkin, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
