Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Son (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andre Banks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Son kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is I WILL BE HEARD. Banks is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Saul Williams-Black Stacey. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Andre Banks!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, George Francis and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Son throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Banks dives in and grabs Son's left leg, looking for a takedown. Son pushes down on Banks's head and hops out.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Banks is defended easily by Son.
Banks shoots in for a takedown but Son shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Daniel Son has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andre Banks.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Banks avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Son tries to close the distance and clinch up but Banks swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Son tries to close the distance and clinch up but Banks swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Banks closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Son is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Banks is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Son has managed to free his arm - good work.
Son preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Son is trying to stand back up but Banks is controlling him
Son keeps control of the position for the meantime.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Banks not landing any meaningful shots this time.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Banks throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Banks fails with a takedown attempt.
Daniel Son has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andre Banks.
Banks moves out of range of the strikes.

Banks shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Son wants to sweep but no luck.

Banks drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Son manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Banks has Son in his guard.

That was a close second round but I would say that Daniel Son will probably get the nod.

Son got a little sloppy there for a moment and Banks has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Son has managed to get both his arms back between Banks's legs - danger averted.
