PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cyrus Prix (ranked 683 p4p, 539 weight class) and Yngve Laake (ranked 30 p4p, 24 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Cyrus Prix!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Yngve Laake!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Eliza Hachem and Ron Honeybunn.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Prix rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Laake counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Prix fails to land with a series of punches.
A nice side step and Laake releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Good exchange - Prix coming out on top.

It looks like Yngve Laake has been cut.
Prix throws a head kick that misses.
Prix thuds a left hand into Laake's body.

Prix feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Laake sprawling to the canvas! Laake rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Prix finish him?!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Prix dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Prix scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Laake doesn't seem bothered though.
Laake ducks under a wild hook from Prix.
Laake looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Laake goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A big right from Prix misses.
Laake throws an off balance right hand
and Prix counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Some bone on bone action there as Laake checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Prix drops Laake with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Laake looks back up at him and smiles so Prix waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Laake is rocked!
Prix shakes his hands by his side, trying to relax. Laake takes his eyes off the ball for a moment - Prix sees the opportunity and cracks him with a massive hook! Laake bends double and collapses on top of himself - he's out! The crowd are going absolutely nuts! Wow, what a knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Cyrus Prix!
A relieved looking Cyrus Prix thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
