PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sao Alela (ranked 2227 p4p, 2091 weight class) and Bald Martin (ranked 225 p4p, 214 weight class). Alela comes into the arena with Cryin' Like a Bitch blaring out of the sound system. Martin is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: I�m Bald And I Know It . Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Daniel Blasius and Paulsen Ambrosius.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alela goes for a double leg but Martin avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Martin continues to drive forward.
Alela is trying to drag Martin to the mat but Martin just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Alela tries to break free but Martin pushes him back against the cage.
Alela swings wildly with an uppercut but Martin uses good head movement to avoid it.

Martin's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

and Alela takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Martin looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Martin moves away from the strike by Alela.
Martin unleashes a big counter combination but Alela bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Martin throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Alela misses with a straight right.
Martin blocks a low kick nicely.
Martin lands an overhand right.
Alela takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

and Martin counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Martin throws a right and a left that Alela avoids nicely.

Alela takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

and Martin counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Alela dips to his left and cracks Martin with an uppercut!
A combination from Martin does no damage.
Alela lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

enabling Martin to counter with a crisp jab.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Martin avoids the head kick by Alela.
Alela throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
A low kick from Alela misses
and Martin counters with a straight right hand.
Alela throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Martin throws a shot to the body.

Alela gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Alela has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
A jab from Martin does it's job there.
Martin swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Martin takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Martin uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Alela.

Martin throws a jab when Alela was well out of range.
Alela fails with the takedown
and Martin counters with a lovely shot to the body.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sao Alela. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Martin counters with a nice uppercut.
Alela throws a front kick aimed at Martin's knee but Martin avoids it well.
Alela swings for the body but Martin moves out of range.
Alela walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Martin thuds a left hand into Alela's body.

and Martin connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Alela is breathing heavily.

Alela misses with a few strikes there.
Alela swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Martin.
Alela misses with a wild body shot.
Martin lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Alela throws a solid leg kick but Martin takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Alela.
Martin doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Alela throws a leg kick but Martin sees it coming and moves out of range.
Martin feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Alelas jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Martin changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Left hook, right uppercut from Martin.
Oh Alela is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

and Martin counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Martin jabs at Alela's body.
and Martin counters with a massive uppercut that badly hurts Alela! He's just covering up as Martin starts to tee off till the referee steps in and stops the fight!
