The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pervitin slips under a jab from Masamba.
Masamba swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Pervitin.

and Masamba takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

It looks like Lutalo Masamba has been cut.

Masamba throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Pervitin on the side of the head.
Masamba pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Pervitin ducks right into an uppercut from Masamba.

Pervitin feints and then cracks Masamba's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Masamba down.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Masamba felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Masamba has hold of Pervitin's hands but Pervitin slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
