Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Iron Side!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Nick Durling!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Radbod Blank and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fighters circling - Side throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
A nice side step and Durling releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.

Durling closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Durling lands in his opponent's guard.
Side trying to control the position.
Side working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Durling.
Durling postures up in Side's guard and throws a big left but Side blocks it.
Side is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Durling is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Durling's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Durling has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Durling pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Side is keeping the position for now.
Durling wants to control from the top but Side keeps moving.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Durling not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Durling.

and Side counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Durling thinking.
Side avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Durling throws a jab when Side was well out of range.
Side takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Durling drives through with a takedown into Side's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Side has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Durling trying to control but Side is working from the bottom.
Durling forces his way into half guard.
Side makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Side.
Durling wants to control from the top but Side keeps moving.

Side controls Durling momentarily but Durling frees himself.
Durling missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Durling postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Durling is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Durling trying to control but Side is working from the bottom.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Side can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Durling controls the pace.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Durling misses with a straight right.
Side gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Side throws a series of punches but Durling moves out of range.
Durling lands a really nice looking cross but Side seems unphased.
Durling slips under a jab from Side.
Durling misses with a right hand
and Side counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Durling thinking.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Side takes a swing at Durling's ribcage but misses.
Side looks to score with a jab to the body but Durling is just out of range.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Nick Durling dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Nick Durling's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Durling looks to throw the jab but Side is out of range.
Side uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Durling.
It looked like Side was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Side digs a good body shot into Durling's ribs.
Side throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Durling! But no joy.
Durling staying out of range there.
Durling throws out a counter right but Side avoids it with no problem.
Durling lands a jab to the nose.

Durling shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Side is rocked!
Side being controlled here, momentarily.
Oh Side is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Durling arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Side's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Nick Durling!
Nick Durling seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
Iron Side spoke after the fight, saying 'I'll back and knock him out!'.
