PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Care Bear (ranked 4045 p4p, 3958 weight class) and Don Raha (ranked 218 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Care Bear!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Don Raha!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, David Schapiro and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick by Raha misses
and Bear counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Bear tries to keep at a distance but Raha has taken the fight into the clinch.
Raha jumps guard but Bear stands there with Raha around his waist. Raha gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Bear pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Raha misses with a takedown
enabling Bear to counter with a crisp jab.
Bear checks a leg kick.
Raha wants to clinch up but Bear keeps it at a distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bear stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Bear wants it to stay on the feet.
Bear seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Care Bear has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Don Raha.
Raha looks to score with a jab to the body but Bear is just out of range.
Bear jabs at Raha's body.

Raha has closed the distance and engaged Bear in a clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bear gets through Raha's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Raha gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Bear on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Bear tries to get out of the position.
Raha slows the pace down in half guard.
Bear keeping control of the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bear wants to sweep but Raha has passed to side control!

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Raha stands up.
Bear lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Jab from Bear.
Raha tries to score a power double leg takedown but Bear sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Raha somewhat.
Bear sizes up Raha with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

It looks like Don Raha has been cut.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Raha shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Bear is trying to defend but Raha finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Bear tries to get to full guard but Raha has control of the leg.
Raha stalling.
Raha prevents Bear from improving his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bear keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Raha is thwarting Bear's attempts to control the position.

Raha seems to be looking for submissions.
Raha keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Care Bear will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Don Raha's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Bear lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Bear scores with the left hand. Raha knows he should have avoided that one.
Raha shoots in looking for a takedown. Bear tries to sprawl out of it but Raha keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Bear manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Raha has a takedown stuffed.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bear lands with a nice body punch.
Nice jab there from Bear.
Bear lands a head shot.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bear misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Bear connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Raha momentarily.
Raha shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Bear pinned against the cage. Bear gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Care Bear has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Don Raha.
Bear digs a good hook to Raha's body.
Raha is breathing heavily.
Raha doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Bear counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Raha gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Raha has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Raha there as he acknowledges the shot.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bear works Raha's body with a nice hook.

Bear drops Raha with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Raha looks back up at him and smiles so Bear waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Raha is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Bear lands a jab and follows it up with a massive straight that knocks Raha out cold! Raha is crumpled in the corner, his head only propped up by the cage! That's one for the organiziational promos right there! Wow, what a finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:19 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Care Bear!
