Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Noel Diaz (ranked 89 p4p, 126 weight class) and Julian Avila (ranked 11 p4p, 20 weight class). Diaz's entrance music is The Stockton Slap Song. A fine choice. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Julian Avila!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Shigeki Sano and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Avila jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Diaz throws a good cross that connects.
Diaz connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Diaz moves away from the strike by Avila.
Diaz ducks under a wild hook from Avila.
Diaz tries to counter by clinching up but Avila breaks away and moves out of range.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Diaz checks a leg kick.
Diaz swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Avila fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Diaz manages to avoid it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Diaz ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Diaz no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Diaz escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Avila gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Diaz wants to sweep here but Avila controlling him for the moment.
Avila slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Diaz is trying to control the position but Avila postures up.

Diaz seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

That was a close round but I would say that Noel Diaz will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Diaz cracks Avila with an open hand slap.
Diaz lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Diaz has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Avila.

and Avila counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Diaz on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Avila throws a push kick but Diaz slaps the foot to one side.

Avila lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Avila throws a front kick aimed at Diaz's knee but Diaz avoids it well.

Diaz moves into the clinch.
Diaz tries to pull guard but Avila won't allow it.
Avila goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Diaz misses with a hook to the ribs.
Diaz tries to pull guard but Avila holds him up against the cage and eventually Diaz drops back down to his feet.
Avila tries to land knees in the clinch but Diaz avoids the damage to the body.
Diaz gets through Avila's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Avila makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

Avila unloads a knee to the mid-section. Diaz lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

Avila's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Diaz scores with a hook to the body. Avila takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Diaz creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Diaz is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Avila can do to turn this around?

Avila must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Diaz has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Avila should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Diaz has tightened it up now! Avila should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
