The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, William Gold and James Ackerman.


The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way.
Kersikov misses with a takedown attempt - Balkan sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

We've been hearing good reports from Balkan's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Balkan drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Kersikov manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Balkan has Kersikov in his guard.

Balkan drops back, looking for a kneebar! Kersikov looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Kersikov looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Kersikov!

The referee asks Kersikov politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Kersikov prefers to stall for the moment though.
My spies in KFA inform me that Kersikov has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Balkan tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Kersikov wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
