Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Shahriyar Chai (ranked 1002 p4p, 1879 weight class) and Gaston Tellurique (ranked 137 p4p, 253 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Jonathan Paton and Joseph Jones.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tellurique tries to close the distance and clinch up but Chai swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Chai jabs Tellurique to the body, keeping him at a distance.

A nice right hand lands inside from Chai.

Chai blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Chai can't find room to land a body shot as Tellurique controls the action.
Chai lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

Chai tightens his grip and picks Tellurique up, before dumping him to the ground. Tellurique manages to land in guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Chai thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Chai scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Tellurique to see if he's OK.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Chai is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Chai gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Chai gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Chai apologises and we restart here on the feet.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Tellurique wants to clinch up but Chai keeps it at a distance.

and Chai counters with a big uppercut that knocks Tellurique off his feet! Chai dives into side control looking to finish!
Tellurique is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Chai has just dragged him back down to the mat.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Chai closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Tellurique ! Chai dives in looking to finish! Tellurique is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!
