PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Frank Dux (ranked 1576 p4p, 964 weight class) and Prince McVicker (ranked 117 p4p, 71 weight class). Dux comes to the cage accompanied by Bloodsport. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Prince McVicker enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Frank Dux!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Prince McVicker!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McVicker pushes Dux up against the cage in a clinch.
Dux fails to pull guard.
Dux is trying to pull guard but McVicker turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Dux tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Frank Dux. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Dux jumps guard but McVicker turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
A right hook to the body lands for McVicker.
Dux jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as McVicker walks away with a smile on his face. Dux gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Dux shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts McVicker as he jumps to the side.
Dux looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
McVicker tries to land a front kick but Dux steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Dux has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Dux there as he acknowledges the shot.

McVicker closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dux drags the fight down to the ground.
Dux pulls McVicker in to control the position.
McVicker is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Dux keeping moving, preventing McVicker from controlling successfully.
McVicker throws a big elbow that misses.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dux trying to control the position here.
Dux not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
McVicker in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
McVicker pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Dux is keeping the position for now.
Dux will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Dux controls McVicker momentarily but McVicker frees himself.

McVicker looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Dux wants to sweep but no luck.
Dux manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. McVicker manages to get himself to full guard.

Dux postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Dux slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Dux wants to control from the top but McVicker keeps moving.
Dux stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. McVicker swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Dux really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
McVicker looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
McVicker is pulling down on Dux's head. It's preventing any offense from Dux, at least for the moment.
Dux is in close to McVicker's body, working some short punches and elbows.

McVicker is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

McVicker escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Dux gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
McVicker looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Dux lands a couple of elbows.
McVicker working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Dux.
McVicker is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Dux is trying to get back to full guard.
McVicker is pressing down on Dux's thigh, looking to free his foot. Dux is holding on for now.
Dux is not content to let McVicker control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McVicker is thwarting Dux's attempts to control the position.
McVicker tries to pass to full mount but Dux defends it.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

McVicker slaps away a takedown attempt from Dux, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Dux looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
A little jabbing left from McVicker on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
McVicker will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Dux appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
McVicker has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McVicker is looking to improve his position.

Dux closes the distance and clinches up with McVicker, looking for a takedown. Dux pushes McVicker against the cage but McVicker circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Dux postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

The fight stays on the outside here - Dux looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Dux is trying to trip McVicker. He has hold of a leg but McVicker is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Dux persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Dux cracks McVicker with a solid left hand.
McVicker wants to stand and escape but Dux is having none of it.
McVicker tries to land a sweep but no joy.
McVicker is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Dux lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Dux working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.

Dux is looking to take a break and control but McVicker is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Dux with the ground and pound but McVicker uses the opportunity to regain guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Dux passes into half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Frank Dux.
I think Dux has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
