PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Hugo Loris (ranked 237 p4p, 790 weight class) and Tommy Vercetti (ranked 33 p4p, 85 weight class). Vercetti is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Vice City. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Hugo Loris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Tommy Vercetti!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, James Atkins and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vercetti steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Loris.

Loris swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Vercetti.

Vercetti throws out a loose jab but Loris uses good head movement to avoid it.
Loris swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
No joy there for Vercetti, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Loris throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Vercetti throws a shot from downtown. Loris moves away and avoids it.
Vercetti has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

The fighters circle momentarily. Loris darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Vercetti might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Vercetti moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Loris.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Vercetti crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Loris - the referee stops the clock and Vercetti gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Loris. Vercetti manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Vercetti uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Loris.

It looked like Loris wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Vercetti takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Loris accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

That was a close round but I would say that Hugo Loris will probably get the nod.

Vercetti got a little sloppy there for a moment and Loris has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Vercetti has managed to get both his arms back between Loris's legs - danger averted.
