Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alexus Argento (ranked 1312 p4p, 1007 weight class) and Patrick Kearney (ranked 136 p4p, 109 weight class). Argento comes to the cage accompanied by For Heavy Metal we will die!. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 15 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Patrick Kearney!
The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Argento takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Alexus Argento seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kearney tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Argento was well out of range. Poor timing from Kearney.
Argento waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Kearney.
Kearney looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Argento has Kearney up against the cage in a clinch.

Kearney escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Kearney has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Argento misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Argento throws a shot from downtown. Kearney moves away and avoids it.
A countering left hand to the body from Kearney misses.
Kearney misses with a wild body shot.
Argento half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

and Kearney counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
It looks like Alexus Argento has been cut.
That kick from Argento tenderised Kearney's leg. Kearney is trying to keep his angry face on.

Kearney gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Argento to score an easy takedown into full guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Argento accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Kearney is pulling down on Argento's head to control his posture.

Argento wants to control from the top but Kearney keeps moving.
Kearney is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Argento slips nicely into half guard.
Argento is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Argento throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Kearney because Argento loaded up on that one.
Argento lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Argento working for a guillotine from mount but Kearney is in no mood to give up.
Argento can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Kearney is looking to escape.

Argento lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Kearney hang on?
Argento wants to control the pace but Kearney is squirming around nicely.
Argento is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Kearney has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Kearney!
Argento escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Kearney gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Argento looking for subs off his back but Kearney has passed one foot through into half guard.

Kearney is figuring out what he wants to do next.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Argento is looking for a sweep. Kearney is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Argento gets back to full guard.
Kearney pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Argento is keeping the position for now.
Argento is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Argento cracks Kearney with a good jab.
Argento connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Argento tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kearney swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Nice takedown defense from Kearney. No joy for Argento on that attempt.

A little jabbing left from Kearney on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
