Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Apophis Kalmisto (ranked 556 p4p, 834 weight class) and Svalbard Haudegen (ranked 78 p4p, 118 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Apophis Kalmisto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Svalbard Haudegen!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Percy O'Donnell and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Haudegen clinches with his opponent.
Haudegen displaying some good clinch control by pressing Kalmisto up against the cage.
Haudegen is trying to maintain a safe position but Kalmisto gets an underhook and turns Haudegen into the cage.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Kalmisto.
Kalmisto doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Haudegen's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Haudegen successfully pulls guard.
Kalmisto trying to control the position from guard on top but Haudegen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Kalmisto has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Kalmisto thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Haudegen has his foot on Kalmisto's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kalmisto works his way back into a safe position though.

It looks like Svalbard Haudegen has been cut.
We've been told by Kalmisto's head coaches at Hey Steves Fight Shack that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Kalmisto takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Haudegen, as that shot connected.
A head kick misses from Kalmisto.
And Haudegen tries to counter it with a takedown but Kalmisto pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Kalmisto moves into the clinch.

Haudegen successfully pulls guard.
Kalmisto wants to control from the top but Haudegen keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Haudegen is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Haudegen throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Kalmisto escapes and throws Haudegen's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Kalmisto tries to move to mount but Haudegen blocks the move with his legs.
Haudegen tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Kalmisto wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Kalmisto is looking to take a break and control but Haudegen is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Kalmisto passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Haudegen!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Kalmisto is working for a guillotine from mount but Haudegen frees his head quite easily.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Haudegen is in all sorts of trouble here.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Apophis Kalmisto will probably get the nod.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Haudegen throws a shot from downtown. Kalmisto moves away and avoids it.

Haudegen sizes up Kalmisto with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Kalmisto throws a hook but Haudegen avoids it easily.
Haudegen is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

Haudegen throws a nice looking combination but Kalmisto bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Kalmisto tries to bum rush Haudegen with a series of wild strikes but Haudegen uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Haudegen tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Haudegen ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

That kick from Kalmisto tenderised Haudegen's leg. Haudegen is trying to keep his angry face on.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kalmisto fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Haudegen is out of range.

Haudegen wants a takedown.
Haudegen has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Kalmisto is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Kalmisto tries to work over Haudegen's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Haudegen stalls.
Kalmisto misses with a body punch.
Haudegen is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Kalmisto pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Apophis Kalmisto has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Svalbard Haudegen.
Haudegen jumps guard but Kalmisto turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Kalmisto using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Haudegen has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Haudegen tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Kalmisto gets underhooks to prevent Haudegen's takedown attempt.
Haudegen is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Haudegen stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Haudegen has picked Kalmisto up - he's going for a ride! Haudegen dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Kalmisto is looking to regain full guard. He's left an arm up in the air though and Haudegen has latched onto it... Big trouble! Haudegen pivots for an armbar - it's in tight and it Kalmisto is tapping in no time flat! Great counter grappling there from Haudegen!

A very excited looking Svalbard Haudegen made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
