PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hole Reemer (ranked 1342 p4p, 2235 weight class) and Devin Ecker (ranked 212 p4p, 358 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Ecker's choice of entrance music: Right Above It. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hole Reemer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Devin Ecker!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, George Francis and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reemer scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Ecker moves away from the strike by Reemer.
Ecker has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Reemer gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

It looks like Hole Reemer has been cut.
Ecker throws a sloppy head kick and Reemer moves out of range easily.
That kick from Ecker tenderised Reemer's leg. Reemer is trying to keep his angry face on.

Ecker misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Ecker moves forwards but Reemer connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Ecker chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Reemer can pounce on him.
Ecker takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Ecker tries to score a power double leg takedown but Reemer sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Ecker somewhat.

and Reemer counters with a shoot takedown. Ecker fights it but they end up in guard.

Ecker manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Ecker darts in looking for a takedown but Reemer gets double underhooks and turns Ecker into the cage.

Reemer cracks a nice hook into Ecker's ribs.
The fighters circling - Reemer throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Ecker shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Ecker showed some decent athleticism there.
Ecker is taking a breather. Reemer says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Ecker thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Reemer's head.
Reemer is not content to let Ecker control the position.

Ecker is looking to work some ground and pound but Reemer has wrist control.
Ecker wants to control from the top but Reemer keeps moving.
Ecker throws a strike but Reemer rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Ecker shoots for a double leg takedown but Reemer sprawls well. He's pushed Ecker's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Hole Reemer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Devin Ecker.
Ecker tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Reemer swivels and escapes.

Reemer does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Ecker throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Reemer tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Ecker is in Reemer's guard.
Ecker has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Devin Ecker comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Ecker has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
