Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jim Duggan (ranked 2215 p4p, 3907 weight class) and Jason Laszlo (ranked 290 p4p, 465 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Laszlo's choice of entrance music: Medal. Jim Duggan had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jim Duggan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jason Laszlo!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Aleksandr Martynov and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Laszlo fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Duggan avoids it really well and circles away.
Duggan tests Laszlo's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Laszlo wants to land a leg kick but Duggan is out of range.
Duggan throws a body shot but no joy.

Duggan gets caught flat footed, as Laszlo shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Duggan has his foot on Laszlo's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Laszlo works his way back into a safe position though.
Duggan trying to keep a closed guard but Laszlo is proving a slippery customer.
Laszlo is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Laszlo's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Laszlo is taking a breather. Duggan says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Laszlo tries to stand but can't do so whilst Duggan controls his leg.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Laszlo stalling.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

Laszlo closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Laszlo is looking to advance position but Duggan won't allow it.
Duggan tries to get to full guard but Laszlo has control of the leg.
Duggan is working hard here to advance position.

Duggan is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Laszlo landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Laszlo is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Duggan doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Laszlo.
Laszlo tries to pass to full mount but Duggan defends it.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Jason Laszlo dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Laszlo throws a lazy uppercut
and Duggan counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Duggan connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Laszlo's hands.
The crowd cheers as Duggan lands an impressive looking overhand right. Laszlo doesn't seem phased though.
Laszlo sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Duggan lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Laszlo misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Duggan blocks a head kick by Laszlo.
Laszlo pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Laszlo throws a series of punches but Duggan moves out of range.
Duggan tries to clinch but Laszlo is having none of it.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Laszlo crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Duggan - the referee stops the clock and Laszlo gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Duggan. Laszlo manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Laszlo looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Duggan tries to land a front kick but Laszlo steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Laszlo tries to bum rush Duggan with a series of wild strikes but Duggan uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Nice sprawl there from Duggan as Laszlo shoots in.
Laszlo throws a leg kick but Duggan sees it coming and moves out of range.
Laszlo moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Jason Laszlo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Duggan digs a good hook to Laszlo's body.
Duggan lands a nice leg kick that just misses Laszlo's sensitive parts.
Laszlo shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Duggan as he jumps to the side.

Duggan lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Laszlo walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
A low kick lands for Laszlo.
Duggan looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
A thudding body kick lands there by Duggan!
A clash of legs there as Duggan blocks the low kick.

Laszlo drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Duggan is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Jason Laszlo has got the better of the ground game so far.
Laszlo controls the position.
Duggan holds on tight, trying to prevent any damage.
Duggan is not content to let Laszlo control the position.
Duggan is trying to improve his position.

Well, if Laszlo is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Duggan is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Duggan looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Laszlo is pressing down on Duggan's thigh, looking to free his foot. Duggan is holding on for now.
Laszlo tries to stand and escape but Duggan is controlling the position.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Laszlo tries a head kick but it misses.
Duggan lands a nice leg kick that just misses Laszlo's sensitive parts.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Laszlo.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Duggan lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Laszlo has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Laszlo and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Duggan is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Duggan lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Laszlo circles away quickly and effectively.
A combination from Laszlo does no damage.
A head kick misses from Laszlo.
Duggan looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.
No joy there for Laszlo, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Laszlo shoots for a double leg takedown but Duggan sprawls well. He's pushed Laszlo's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Duggan lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Laszlo backwards.

Duggan's jab looks to have found its range, popping Laszlo under the eye.
Laszlo doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Laszlo jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Duggan walks away with a smile on his face. Laszlo gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Laszlo avoids a kick to the body.
Duggan throws out a powerful jab.
Laszlo shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Duggan as he avoids it easily.
Laszlo is trying hard to land a takedown here. Duggan sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Laszlo throws a head kick that misses.
Duggan shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Jim Duggan is winning the standup battle so far.
Laszlo throws a sloppy head kick
and Duggan counters with a thumping low kick.
Laszlo walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Laszlo's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.

Laszlo unleashes a big counter combination but Duggan bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

BAM! Duggan delivers a spinning backfist that drops Laszlo like a ragdoll! This is all oooooveeeer! He was out before he hit the ground!

An out of breath Jim Duggan thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
