PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alborz Mumu (ranked 307 p4p, 260 weight class) and Jimmy Granite (ranked 46 p4p, 42 weight class). Granite comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Jungle kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Alborz Mumu could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Jimmy Granite 's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 32 - 16 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alborz Mumu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 10 - 0, fighting out of London, Jimmy Granite !
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Donald Grub and Phil Schofield.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Granite connects with a crisp jab.
Granite swings away with a body shot that misses
and Mumu counters with a crisp one two that drops Granite ! Mumu thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Granite to his feet! Granite is in big trouble!
Granite is rocked!
A head kick misses from Granite .
Granite is still on wobbly legs! Can Mumu finish him?
Granite sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Granite seems to have recovered his senses.
Mumu lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
It looks like Jimmy Granite has been cut.
Granite wants to clinch.
Mumu swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Granite crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Mumu - the referee stops the clock and Granite gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Mumu. Granite manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Mumu has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Mumu throws a jab but it's blocked by Granite .
Granite has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Mumu lands a big head kick that sends Granite tumbling to the mat! Mumu takes a step backwards and waves Granite back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Granite works the jab nicely.
A jab from Granite misses.
Mumu lands a leg kick that knocks Granite off balance momentarily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Granite throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Granite throws a predictable looking body shot
and Granite takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Mumu explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Mumu closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Granite ! Mumu dives in looking to finish! Granite is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:21 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Alborz Mumu!
After winning the bout, Alborz Mumu thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
