Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gary Sparxx (ranked 1613 p4p, 1173 weight class) and Malcolm Rivera (ranked 195 p4p, 139 weight class). Sparxx comes into the arena with American Psycho- The Misfits blaring out of the sound system. Rivera has chosen BAD COMPANY as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Sparxx looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Rivera lands a left and a right that send Sparxx crashing to the mat, dazed. Rivera thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Rivera feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Sparxx sprawling to the canvas! Sparxx rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Rivera finish him?!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Sparxx has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.

Rivera sends Sparxx crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Rivera is motioning to the referee to let Sparxx up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

This entire fight has taken place on the feet so far and you wonder whether Sparxx might be better served trying to take this one to the ground because he's losing the standup battle so far.

Sparxx is wiping some vaseline out of his eye. Rivera doesn't give a rats ass about fair play and cracks him with a massive hook to the side of the head! Sparxx crumples to the floor out cold! The cornerman is going to be in Sparxx's bad books for that mishap!

An out of breath Malcolm Rivera thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
